Each package includes 48 copies broken down as follows:
Court Filing: 40 copies to the court
Service: 6 copies for service – 3 copies for each party*
Client: 2 copies for your records
Service on two parties is included. If you require service on additional parties, please select the additional service add-on when ordering. Each party is served with 3 copies of the brief.
Once you place your order, you will receive an automated email confirming that your order has been received. If your brief is ready to print, you may reply to that email attaching the file in PDF format. A paralegal will be in touch with you to keep you updated on the status of your order.
If your brief is not ready to print, a paralegal will be in contact with you to confirm the details for the cover, and the timing of the project. Once you are done writing your brief, you can email it to your assigned paralegal in Microsoft Word format.
Our print shop is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm EST. Orders received outside of business hours will be treated as if received at 9am on the next business day.
Package 1 – Ready to print briefs can be printed and shipped the same day if received by 12 p.m. EST during business hours.
Package 2 – Orders must be placed a day in advance so we can send you a proof of the typeset cover for your review and approval prior to printing. The final brief is not needed until 12p.m EST on the day of printing/shipping.
*For orders requiring a Table of Contents or a Table of Authorities, the final brief is needed by 3pm EST the day before printing/shipping.
Package 3 – Orders must be placed a day in advance and the final brief is needed by 3pm EST the day before printing/shipping.
Amicus briefs submitted in connection with a petition for a writ of certiorari are limited to 6,000 words. Amicus briefs submitted at the merits stage are limited to 8,000 words except for entities identified in Rule 37.6 (i.e., governmental entities) where the limit is 9,000 words. Footnotes must be included in the word count. Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities should not be included in the word count.
Every amicus brief that exceeds 1,500 words does need a table of contents and a table of authorities according to Rule 34.2.
